Who This Is For

Is this you?

This is for grapplers who want to overcome injury and pain and get back to training properly. In particular, if:

  • Pain or injury is restricting your time and ability on the mat.
  • You have been quietly working around an issue for months or years, adapting your game to avoid it.
  • Your body feels disconnected, tight or on the edge of spasm, even when you are strong.
  • You want to build resilience and prevent the next injury, not just patch up this one.

The Method

How the programme works.

Each session follows a clear continuum: assess, assign the rehabilitation, reassess in the next session, then progress. We keep going on that path until you are fully equipped to stay pain free and feel more durable and resilient.

From the outset we lay out expectations around training load so you can make an educated decision about how to proceed with your grappling training while you recover from your injury or pain.

The continuum

  1. Assess

A full assessment to uncover what’s really driving your pain.

  2. Assign

Prescribe targeted rehabilitation that addresses the source of the pain.

  3. Reassess

Review what’s changed session to session, using a combination of your feedback, assessment and training outcomes to refine your rehab plan.

  4. Progress

Progress your rehab until you are pain-free, injury-free, durable and resilient to train the way you want.

Outcomes

What you walk away with.

  • Pain-free after 8 weeks.
  • The confidence to play positions and guards you had been avoiding.
  • More tolerance for daily activity, often within the first 3 to 4 weeks.
  • A body that feels connected and free, rather than braced and tight.
  • The knowledge to manage load and catch problems before they grow.

Tom, whose body felt like a block

BJJ black belt instructor · 36

Tom had carried back and hip pain for years, working around it for so long that he had become nervous about certain guards and positions. His body felt like a block, not from lack of strength but because his brain did not feel safe enough to allow freedom of movement in his spine and hips. We began from the jaw and neck all the way down, systematically restoring the brain’s map of the whole body. Within 4 weeks his back was more tolerant of daily activity, and by 8 weeks he was sparring more often with far fewer issues.
